Okay, its been a couple of months! Another obligatory update.

I got a call from a guy who wanted to offer me a job. He had read my profile on some barcamp website, which was very out of date! I was not actually looking for a change, so I graciously thanked him for the offer. But it did remind me to update my page at munimkazia.com.

Ruby on Rails is out! I did manage to learn quite a bit about it, but I never got a chance to actually use it. It would be wrong to say I am a RoR developer. Also, I have been hearing a lot of good things about python, and I also need to learn it for work, so it’s in.

I have stopped using a css framework. I don’t need them anymore. I can do everything I need to from ground up.

WordPress is back, as I have been doing a lot of crazy wordpress work. Pentagram and Babblefish are two examples. NH7.in is a huge application which uses wordpress.

What’s with all the music websites? I joined a music company! Only Much Louder Digital are my new employers. Things have been absolutely kick-ass crazy since I joined here. This is one fun place to work.

Oh yeah, I also set up the html5 version of my main page as the default page, as it works perfectly on most browsers. The older xhtml version is still there.

That’s about it for now!

I’ve been sick for the past one week or so. After a lot of tests and prescription drugs, the doctor finally decided that I don’t have H1N1 or Pneumonia and left it at “some respiratory track infection”, and got bored of me.

So I have been moping around the house with nothing to do. Watching the Indian team play cricket in the T20 world championship proved a waste of time and energy. The utter lack of good stuff to watch of TV never fails to surprise me. With the exception of the occasional cricket, there is absolutely nothing worth watching on Indian TV… nothing!

I did manage to play a fair bit of Modern Warfare 2 before my laptop would start complaining of overheating. My great days of gaming are behind me, though I did enjoy the game. I couldn’t help feeling the levels have gotten a bit shorter though.

After wasting time on all these sundry activities, I would just sit and think. I have been extremely busy for the past 5-6 months, and this is something which I never had the time to do. It has been one hell of a roller-coaster ride, full of ups and downs. Things have been very different for me of the past one year or so, but the last few months have been utter madness. And now, more than ever, there is a big question mark in the horizon. I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to me even one month down the line. The more I think about it, the more scary it gets. I used to enjoy this at first.. the uncertainty, the randomness.. but I am getting tired. I miss being jobless and boring and carefree with nothing to do. No need to worry about work, no need to worry about where/how to stay, no need to worry about money. Now, there are so many concerns to think about.. My mind is never at ease. And I wonder if it was worth it. And I wonder how things would have been had I didn’t make those few very critical mistakes. But, fuck it. Life is too short for regrets. And I have evaded responsibility for way too long and I am learning to live with it now.

Yeah, its weird how much you start thinking when you have the time.

I look around and I find tons of beautiful minimalist wordpress themes. Why should I bother designing and coding my own? So I finally gave in and installed Carrington text (http://text.carringtontheme.com/). Looks pretty neat. It doesn’t go with my main page’s design.. but who gives a rat’s ass. Personally, for blogs with a lot of text, I like reading dark text on a light background.

So if you haven’t heard already, Microsoft has declared that it won’t support flash out of the box unlike Chrome, which will be integrated with Flash. Their statements about commitment to HTML5 does sound very reassuring. I hope the days of browser incompatibility and ugly code are finally getting over.

On the personal front, I have decided that I am still not ready for a full time commitment to any employer as of now. Development contracts are pouring in and should be enough to keep me happy for a while. It is kinda disturbing when your demanding job prevents you doing normal things like shopping for essentials or getting a haircut. Anyway more about this later. I will have some pretty big announcements to make in a while.

For those who care, I have started working in Vavia Technologies as a software developer. Infact, its been almost two months since I have started working here.

Another interesting development is the new love of my life: Ruby on Rails.

Okay, I am getting back to work.
